So, it is your turn to see your children for the evening and you can’t bear the thought of another takeaway pizza. How about a home cooked meal?
This may not be a problem if you can cook. You might already have a varied repertoire of dishes that your kids love to eat. Let them know but be sure you meet their expectations! Otherwise you may get… ‘Dad, you said’ or ‘Dad, you promised’. And, of course, this applies to almost everything you say, or promise, so be thoughtful … and careful!
Well, what if you can’t cook? What if you find making cheese on toast challenging?
Cooking with your child can be fun. Start simple, nothing too adventurous. Most children love to experiment in the kitchen. The internet is full of ideas, there are plenty of simple easy to follow recipes.
Choose a recipe, shop for ingredients, prepare the food and sit down to a delicious meal with your children. All or part of the process can be great fun. Especially if you’re enthusiastic about it.
… and for the times when you might not have the time or inclination to cook. Why not create a list of local restaurants in your local neighbourhood that may be suitable.
